ZEDD LIVED OUT EVERY DJ'S WORST FEAR AT ULTRA?!

You're about to perform at one of the biggest festivals in the world in front of tens of thousands of people. You've spent months getting ready. A few moments before you take the stage, however, everything fails.

Even DJ luminaries like Zedd, whose plans to perform on the Ultra Mainstage were thwarted by a freak software accident, would consider this scenario to be the stuff of nightmares. The Grammy-winning producer used Twitter to express regret for the performance, which he dubbed a "complete nightmare disaster," following his set on Friday night, which was still as amazing as ever.

Zedd's USB and backup drives were corrupted by a software error, leaving him in a pressure cooker and "freaking out the entire show." Zedd explained that he was still making edits at the last minute in response to a fan who questioned why he hadn't tested his USB beforehand to make sure it worked properly. The new tracks weren't yet available to his team, and when they tried to sync them to the thumb drive, everything went horribly wrong.

It's a situation that electronic musicians encounter all too frequently. It's risky to update programs like Ableton and rekordbox, which are respectively the industry standard for music production and DJing. The redesigned software may not communicate with a user's device's operating system if the appropriate drivers are not installed, which can have annoying effects like corrupted files and missing plugins.
